SUMMER SCHOOLS OF SLAVONIC STUDIES 2024 - Chance for three scholarships

The students from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin may apply for one of three scholarship to learn Czech in four week course in Prague, Brno or Podebrady.

We are glad to announce that this year, together three applicants can receive full scholarships for four week courses! Apply or to study in Prague, in Brno or in Podebrady.

Summer Schools of Slavonic Studies (SSSS) are study courses organized by several public universities in the Czech Republic. Courses are held annually during the summer months (July, August, and September). Their duration ranges from three to four weeks. The length of the course is determined by the organizing school. Within the framework of their educational units, individual organizing schools offer the Czech language courses at various levels of proficiency, selective seminars focused on the Czech literature, culture and history, leisure activities including theater, music and dance performances, excursions, sightseeing tours, etc. 

The courses are designed for foreign students, specialists (teachers, translators, interpreters) and academics in the field of the Czech and Slavonic studies who are over 18 years of age. The courses are, however, open to all those interested in the Czech language, literature, history, and culture. If you intend to participate and cover your costs, contact directly the selected University (Charles University, Masaryk University, Palacky University or other).

Please send the 1) printed and signed application to the  Consulate General of the Czech republic in Chicago (205 N Michigan, Suite 1680, Chicago IL 60601), together with 2) your current CV, 3) copy of your passport and 4) recommendation letter by March 15, 2024.

The Consulate does not produce any recommendation letters, the applicants are invited to provide recommendations from other institutions.
