Minister Petříček held talks in Pilsen with US Secretary of State Pompeo

Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomáš Petříček met on Tuesday, 11 August 2020 with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who kicked off his Central European trip in the Czech Republic. The heads of Czech and American diplomacy toured the Patton Memorial Museum in Pilsen to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II at the Thanks, America! memorial, followed by a visit to the Pilsner Urquell brewery.

"Secretary Pompeo's visit, especially in the midst of a pandemic, is proof of the strong ties and alliances between our countries as well as the Secretary's personal commitment to strengthening transatlantic cooperation," Petříček said.

"The Czech Republic is free and helps secure the legacy of freedom, democracy and security commemorated by the Thanks, America! memorial. Thank you, Czech friends, for everything you do for freedom and for keeping the memory of our fallen compatriots in your hearts," said the US Secretary of State.
