COVID-19: Traveling to the Czech Republic during the pandemic

As of December 27, 2021 all travelers (not Czech citizens and residents)  who are eligible to travel to the Czech republic are obliged to undergo a RT-PCR test 72 hours or less prior to departure to the Czech Republic; with a negative test results
 
For travelling to the Czech Republic USA is considered as a country with a very high risk of COVID-19 ("dark red country"). 
As of December 27, 2021, came into effect New Protective Measure of the Czech Ministry of Health

As of December 27, 2021 ALL TRAVELERS ARE OBLIGED TO UNDERGO  RT-PCR TEST 72 hours or less prior to departure to the Czech Republic; with a negative test result.

Exceptions apply to the following categories of persons:

                 Children and youngsters up to 18 years of age
                 Persons with booster shoot of vaccination
                 Czech citizens
                 Czech residents 


Only FULLY VACCINATED US passport holders can travel to the Czech Republic from the US as tourists or to visit friends.

Who is fully vaccinated person:

  • person vaccinated in the USA, holder of the vaccination certificate vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the EMA:

                        Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca)
                        Spikevax (Moderna)
                        Comirnaty (Pfizer / BioNTech)
                        Janssen (Janssen Pharmaceutical)
                        Covishield

  • and where at least 14 days have passed since last dose

  • and with no present signs of COVID-19

All travelers are obliged to fill in Passenger Form.

These vacinated persons are also obliged to undergo a RT-PCR test 72 hours or less prior to departure to the Czech Republic; with a negative test result.

If you are not fully vaccinated, please consult the exemptions to the travel restrictions laid down in Article II.1 of the Protective Measure (page 6).

If you fall into any of the categories listed in the Article II.1 you are eligible for travel to the Czech Republic.

However, the reason for entry must be supported by an adequate document. Moreover, you have to comply with all conditions set in Article I.B of the Protective Measure (Arrivals from Countries with a High and Very High Risk of Infection).

Not fully vaccinated passengers who are eligible to travel to the Czech republic are obliged:

  • to undergo a RT-PCR test 72 hours or less prior to departure to the Czech Republic; with a negative test result

  • to possess the filled-in Passenger Form and

  • to undergo a RT-PCR test no erlier than the 5th day and no later than  the 14th day after entry the Czech Republic and

  • always wear a respirator or similar device (without an exhalation valve) when leaving the place of residence or accommodation.

Detailed instructions on how to complete the Passenger form are in Manual for travelers arriving in the Czech Republic.  Only addresses selected from the drop-down menu are accepted. If you simply type the text, the form will not be saved. Do not forget to print out the form.

 


Recognition of vaccination certificates from other countries

 


The same set of rules applies to third country citizens who stayed in the territory of the United States for more than 12 hours during the last 14 days.

 


Please check also in advance with your airlines and all transit countries for their sanitary regulations (testing for COVID-19, vaccination, face covering, etc.).

There are no direct flights between the US and the Czech Republic. Please check first with transit countries whether you will be allowed to travel to the Czech Republic and back to the USA.
