The Czech language has been taught at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for 109 years. The Komensky Club has existed here since 1903. The famous Nebraska Czech-Americans include for example the senior CNN & New York Times correspondent Jeff Zeleny, and a longterm Member of the US House of Representatives and the US Senate Hon. Roman Hruska. Since the fall of communism in Czechoslovakia, Czech - Nebraska relations have grown again. The partnership between the Nebraska National Guard and the Czech Army was founded 24 years ago. The Minister and his delegation received the most cordial welcome in Nebraska. We were received at the highest possible level, including by the Governor Pete Ricketts, the State Secretary John Gale and the Head of the Nebraska National Guard Major General Daryl Bohac (a Czech-American). In a special welcome ceremony, the Nebraska Legislature issued the enclosed declaration. We look forward to working together with our friends in Nebraska on a further strengthening of our cooperation.
