Czech Republic makes a voluntary contribution in support of the European Court of Human Rights

The Government of the Czech Republic has made a voluntary contribution of EUR 25,000 to the special account at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

The ECtHR Special Account was set up following the Brighton Conference in 2012. Contributions from this account are used to improve the efficiency of the ECtHR, e.g. to help reduce the backlog of well-founded cases.

The agreement was signed on 21 September 2021 by Ambassador Petr Válek, Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the Council of Europe, and Mr Bjørn Berg, Deputy Secretary. Ambassador Petr Válek underlined the importance of the ECtHR in ensuring the protection of individual human rights guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights.
