Kateřina Šimáčková takes up the post of judge at the ECtHR

On 13 December 2021, Ms. Kateřina Šimáčková took office as a judge of the European Court of Human Rights for the Czech Republic. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Human Rights Building in Strasbourg.

Kateřina Šimáčková was elected by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe as the new judge of the Strasbourg Court in respect of the Czech Republic on 28 September 2021, replacing the current ECtHR judge for the Czech Republic, Mr. Aleš Pejchal. Her mandate will last for 9 years. She previously served as a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic since 2013.
