The Czech Republic and the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) signed a donor contribution agreement worth CZK 1.2 million (approximately € 47,264) towards CEB’s Green Social Investment Fund (GSIF)

The donor contribution agreement was signed on 16th September 2020 by Ambassador Petr Válek, Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the Council of Europe, and Mr Rolf Wenzel, CEB Governor.

GSIF was established in March last year and aims to help CEB member countries accelerate their transition towards low-carbon and climate-resilient development. CEB seeded it with € 5 million inter alia to make climate action measures more socially affordable and accessible to vulnerable groups.

Last year when grant activities were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic the Czech Republic emerged as the Bank’s second largest individual fund donor, with contributions to the Regional Housing Programme (RHP) and the Migrant and Refugee Fund (MRF).
