Screening of movie Zátopek

MOVIE ZATOPEK – THE RUNNER WHO WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AS „THE CZECH LOCOMOTIVE“
 

Do not miss the Zátopek movie and join us for the screening in the cinema of the Bohemian National Hall on the occasion of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2022 and 100th anniversary of the birth of Emil Zátopek.

Zátopek movie will be screened on Thursday October 13th, 2022 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. at Bohemian National Hall, 321 East 73rd Street, New York, NY 10021 (Cinema room)

Welcome drink will be served from 7 p.m.

The event is organized by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York with support of KBC Bank.

Director David Ondříček’s epic film details the athletic and personal story of one of the greatest runners in the history of the world, four-time Olympic winner Emil Zátopek. A story of victories in love and sports, both of which require a lot of heart. The Zátopek movie was the Czech Republic’s submission for the 94th Academy Awards (Oscars) for the Best International Feature Film. The film dominated the most prestigious Czech film awards, Czech Lions, with eight wins including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Cinematography and Best Editing.

Emil Zátopek was born on September 19, 1922 in Kopřivnice, Moravia. He was a Czech long distance runner, well known for winning three gold Olympic medals at the Summer Olympic Games in 1952, in Helsinki. He won 5000 metres and 10000 metres runs and also a marathon. These three wins mark Emil Zátopek the only runner ever to win gold medals in these runs at the same Olympic Games. Setting 18 world records, winning 4 gold and 1 silver Olympic medals, and having carrier destroyed by the Communist Party, Emil Zátopek´s legacy will live forever.
