Czech Republic praised by President of Israel during the Veteran’s Memorial Service

On April 17, 2016, Annual Micdey Marcus Memorial Service took place at the U. S.Military Academy in West Point during which a support of former Czechoslovakia to Israel shortly after the end of the World War II was praised.

Part of this year’s 50th Annual Memorial Service was a ceremony during which representative of the Consulate General of Israel read a letter written on this occasion by Reuven Rivlin, President of Israel. Among other, the letter quotes Ben Gurion, first Prime Minister of Israel, saying that “the Czechoslovak arms saved the State of Israel”. Consuls General of Czech and Slovak Republic held short speeches as well and the ceremony was then closed by a service at the Military Cemetery.
