NEW VISA SERVICES RULES

The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York as of August 23, 2021  accepts only applications for the following types of visas and residence permits.

Different rules for vaccinated persons
 

SCHENGEN VISAS:

● family members of EU / Czech Republic citizens

● unmarried partners of EU / Czech Republic citizens

● in the interest of the Czech Republic

● international transport workers

● critical infrastructure workers 

● diplomats and officials of international organizations

● seasonal workers (based on Decree of the Ministry of Labor and Social Services No. 322/2017 Coll.)

● health, social services, and food processing employees

● employees in scientific, key and highly qualified professions fulfilling conditions of the Highly Qualified Worker Program and Key and Research Staff Program

● in exceptional emergency situations as defined in pt. II/2i) of the Protective Measure of the Ministry of Health

 

LONG-TERM VISAS AND RESIDENCE PERMITS:

● LONG-TERM VISA FOR THE PURPOSE OF SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT (based on Decree of the Ministry of Labor and Social Services No. 322/2017 Coll.)

● SPECIAL WORK VISA

● visas / residence permits within the KEY AND SCIENTIFIC PERSONNEL PROGRAM, including family members

● visas / residence permits within the HIGHLY QUALIFIED EMPLOYEES PROGRAM, including family members

PERMANENT RESIDENCE PERMITS FOR COMPATRIOTS (based on decree no. 1014/2014)

● BLUE CARDS and applications for long-term residence permits of their spouses and minor children

● LONG-TERM RESIDENCE PERMITS FOR THE PURPOSE OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH and applications for long-term residence permits of their spouses and minor children

● LONG-TERM VISAS FOR THE PURPOSE OF STUDY - visas can be issued for studies in an accredited program only

● RESIDENCE PERMITS FOR THE PURPOSE OF STUDY - visas can be issued for studies in an accredited program only

● LONG-TERM AND PERMANENT RESIDENCE PERMITS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FAMILY UNIFICATION, but only if the family unification involves spouses and minor children of foreign nationals who already reside in the Czech Republic on a basis of a long-term or permanent residence permit; other family members cannot file these applications at the moment

● LONG-TERM VISAS FOR THE FAMILY PURPOSE, but only if the family unification involves spouses and minor children of foreign nationals who already reside in the Czech Republic on a basis of a long-term or permanent residence permit; other family members cannot file these applications at the moment

● visas for the purpose of collecting residence permits (the so-called D/VR type visa) – the so-called VISA STICKER TRANSFER – for any purpose of stay

● LONG-TERM VISAS AND RESIDENCE PERMITS IF THE FOREIGN NATIONAL´S STAY IS IN THE INTEREST OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC and is supported by a corresponding document

● LONG-TERM VISAS FOR THE PURPOSE OF CULTURE and SPORT

 

 

NEW: PERSONS FULLY VACCINATED WITH CDC CERTIFICATE CAN APPLY FOR ALL TYPES OF VISAS.

Fully vaccinated persons (= at least 14 days after administration of a second dose, in case of a two-phased vaccine) with one of the following vaccines:

● AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria)

● Moderna (Spikevax)

● Pfizer BioNTech (Comirnaty)

● Johnson & Johnson (Janssen)

● Covidshield

whose are holders of the CDC vaccination certificat, can apply for any type of visa.

!!! ONLY CDC VACCINATION CERTIFICAT IS RECOGNIZED!!!

When applying, you will be asked to (1) present a VACCINATION CERTIFICATE and (2) confirm that you have been fully vaccinated by signing a DECLARATION (DOCX, 44 KB). Entry will only be allowed upon presenting the VACCINATION CERTIFICATE. The visa itself does not guarantee entry.

 

Fill out an entry form before arrival. No additional quarantine measures apply to fully vaccinated persons.

 

 

 

IMPORTANT NOTICE

As for the short term visa, applicants need to contact the Visa Section with a request for an appointment using e-mail visa.ny@mzv.czIn writing they provide the Visa Section officer with the following information: U.S. legal status, U.S. residency address, under which below listed category they wish to apply, when the travel is to take a place, what travel document they hold, whether they have applied for a Schengen visa within the last three years, in which country they applied at and under which purpose. In the follow-up communication, applicants will be given a date and time of the appointment. The applicant is kindly asked to wear a facial covering/ mask during the appointment. The number of applicants in the waiting room of the Visa Section is limited to one person.

As for the long-term visa and permits, the applicants are to submit their applications only by mail after having contacted the Visa Section via e-mail visa.ny@mzv.czThe applications are to be mailed only after detailed consultation with the Visa Section officer regarding all legally outlined supporting documents. Otherwise, the incomplete application will be returned to the applicant without delay.

We kindly ask that all applicants with confirmed appointment with the consular officer should wear a facial covering, masks or respirators and gloves when entering the premises of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic.
