Permanent residency

Permanent residency may be granted mainly for the former Czech citizens or for humanitarian reasons.

Foreign nationals that have proven Czech origins, may apply for a permanent residence permit for reasons worthy of consideration pursuant to § 66/1/b of the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals, without meeting the condition of prior continuous residence in the Czech Republic. The spouse or minor child of the given foreign national may also apply for the same kind of residence permit.

Notification: Every foreign national who, as of January 1, 2021, is issued a long-term residence permit for the territory of the Czech Republic, and also every foreign national who is issued a permanent residence permit after this date without the precondition of previous authorized stay in the territory is obliged to take the adaptation and integration course within one year of the date of collecting their residence permit.
