European Day of Languages in Copenhagen

Czechs often say „you have as many lives as the number of languages you speak.” That is one of the reasons why the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Copenhagen supported the European Day of Languages, which was held in Copenhagen on September 26 at Niels Brock International high school.

Naturally, the Czech language was not missing! Thanks to the support of the Embassy of the Czech Republic, the participants met the translator Lada Halounová. Lada Halounová also translated into Danish the book of Jáchym Topol, The Devil’s Workshop. The book Gennem et Koldt Land was published in Danish in June this year.

The European Day of Languages offered an opportunity to learn something new and try out the full range of European languages. Native speakers offered an introduction to their native language for 20 minutes. Participants had the opportunity to try out many European languages during one single morning.

At the same time, the public could enjoy a number of accompanying events on the European Day of Languages. At the European House in Copenhagen, throughout the month of September, the exhibition was dedicated to the notorious Little Prince of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

On September 26, Cinemateket, Copenhagen, screened the film Little Prince, which was followed by a public debate on the book.
