Exhibition “1989 as Seen by Photographers“ at Roskilde University

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the fall of Communism the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Copenhagen in cooperation with Roskilde University arranged an exhibition of Czech documentary photography called ”1989 as Seen by Photographers”.

A sensitively selected and emotional collection presents excellent reportage photographs by prominent Czech photojournalists. The exhibition is divided into four thematic units according to the time line starting at the first demonstrations in August 1988, through the exodus of East-Germans to West Germany via Prague and the fall of the Berlin Wall to the subsequent Velvet Revolution.

The exhibition was opened on 2 November 2009 under the presence of Rector Ib Poulsen and the Ambassador Zdeněk Lyčka at Roskilde University and lasted 6 November 2009.

After the opening Zdeněk Lyčka spoke about his personal experiences from the Velvet Revolution took place in the big auditorium.
