Concert by guitar player Štěpán Rak in Nuuk

On 10 – 16 September 2017, a music programme by the renowned Czech guitar player, Štěpán Rak, took place in Greenland’s capital Nuuk. The event was organized in cooperation with the Czech Embassy in Copenhagen.

The programme started on Sunday 10 September at a youth centre NUIF with a workshop in classical guitar followed by a solo concert by Štěpán Rak. On Wednesday 13 September, a class for music schoolteachers took place at a music school in Nuuk and the programme was concluded on Saturday 16 September with a concert in Culture House Katuaq.

Štěpán Rak is a leading guitar virtuoso, composer and Professor at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Throughout his career Štěpán Rak concerted in dozens of countries, including USA, China or Japan, where he got famous for the technical innovations he uses in his compositions, especially the five-finger tremolo.
