The scenography was very original and technically challenging. For those who know Hašek's novel very well, the play retained all its notoriously moments of the storyline, and it did not fully portray the usual Czech perception of the main character.

Danes paid an extraordinary attention to "Svejk", and according to the reviews, the play was always above average, and mostly excellent. Criticism has also raised an interesting question as to whether the main character Svej is not "in times of Euroscepticism and Trump's rule“ a key to understand the cause of populist success as well as anti-democratic tendencies in politics.
