Success of the company ERA in Denmark

The company ERA a.s. from the city of Pardubice dealing with production of modern surveillance systems, has finished the third extension of their surface navigation system at Copenhagen Airport Kastrup – the largest and busiest airport in Scandinavia.

Operational Security at Copenhagen airport is thus provided with 27 ground stations monitoring the positions of airplanes, and 238 SQUID tracking units, continuously transmitting the exact position and identification of land vehicles. This significantly increases the safety of movement of vehicles across the airport field, especially in a restricted visibility.

The company ERA a.s., from 2011 a member of the group OMNIPOL, is a leading producer and supplier of passive radars for civil and military purposes. ERA develops proven systems, which are a combination of the technologies multilateration and ADS-B (using GPS). The company has customers worldwide, including approximately one hundred airports, air traffic control and military entities in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America and Asia. Hundreds of sensors by ERA are in service in more than 50 countries in the world. ERA also has a considerable patent portfolio, to which significant investment in research and development is contributed.

Cooperation between Copenhagen airport and the company ERA started in 2004, when ERA together with the Dutch company HITT won the international tender. The system was successfully completed and tested in January 2005. Since then, ERA has separately carried out three other installations of passive monitoring systems, of which the last one was completed in the fall of 2014. The system works faultlessly, as evidenced by its approval for air traffic control by the Danish Civil Aviation Authority.
