Danish translation of Havel’s writings and exhibition of his quotes

On June 13, the Godsbanen Culture Centre in Aarhus hosted the inauguration of the Danish translation of Havel's writings and the opening of an exhibition of important quotes by Václav Havel.

The book Václav Havel - i stykker, published by Silkefyret, was translated into Danish by translator Lada Halounová and professor at Aarhus University and bohemicist Peter Bugge.

The book provides insight into Havel's poetic and political work - from a systemically critical author to the people-elected president. You will get to know more about Václav Havel and his work during a debate led by the translators, Ms. Halounová and Mr. Bugge, who will also read excerpts from the book in Czech and Danish.

Furthermore, an outdoor exhibition consisting of banners with Havel's most famous quotes was officially opened.

The exhibition is displayed on the so-called sloping roof of the Godsbanen Culture Centre during June 2022.

Václav Havel was a great voice not only in Czech cultural life, but also politically and as a human being. He has left a big mark in the world and is still often quoted in various contexts. The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Copenhagen and the Silkefyret publishing house pay tribute to him with this exhibition.

The event took place in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Copenhagen. Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Denmark Radek Pech and Consul Kateřina Guryčová Láníčková attended the event too.
