“Ferat Vampire” in Husets Biograf

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Copenhagen and Husets Biograf cordially invite you to the Czech Film Night, which will take place Tuesday the 28th of February 2023 at 7:30 p.m. in Husets Biograf, Rådshusstræde 13, Copenhagen K.

We chose the sci-fi/horror Ferat Vampire (1981), directed by Juraj Herz for the February screening, Director Herz and screenwriter Jan Fleischer wrote a screenplay based on the short story Vampire after twenty years by Josef Nesvadba. Based upon a motif of a racing car from the Ferat Company, which runs on human blood, it´s been played out a classic drama about self-destructive human obsession.

The Oscar-winning Theodor Pištěk, designed the car, based on the prototype of the Škoda Supersport 724 - which was never produced, as well as the costumes. The doyen of Czech surrealism, Jan Švankmajer, made the dynamic interior of the machine.

Jiří Menzel, one of the most important Czech directors, who would have celebrated his 85th birthday on February 23, plays the main male character in the film. We have already presented Menzel's work several times in Husets Biograf, and we would like to highlight Menzel's acting career by screening the non-traditional film Ferat Vampire.
