Screening of the film “Wrong Side Up“

On December 17, 2008, the Czech Embassy arranged the last film evening of the year 2008 by screening the film “Wrong Side Up” by Petr Zelenka.

Zelenka is a very popular film director and scenarist in the Czech Republic. As the author of successful films Buttoners (1997), Year of the Devil (2002) and a script to Loners (2000), Petr Zelenka is one of the highest award-winning Czech screenwriters and directors of the young generation. The connection between the film and music world has inspired Zelenka in a number of his films e.g. Mnaga Happy-End (1996) or the above mentioned Year of the Devil (2002).

Wrong Side Up was originally written as a stage play for Dejvicke Theatre and it was awarded the Alfred Radok Prize in 2001. Four years later Zelenka adapted the successful stage play to a film version. The main character of the film is casted by Ivan Trojan, holder of three Czech Lion prizes.

In 2005 the Czech Film and Television Academy awarded Michal Holubec the Czech Lion Prize for best sound and Miroslav Krobot for best supporting actor. The film received also the Russian Film Critics Award in Moscow in 2005.
