Opening of the exhibition “15 Years of Czech Press Photo“ in Odense

The opening of the exhibition called “15 Years of Czech Press Photo“ took place at the City Hall of the fourth largest Danish city of Odense on February 9 as a cultural event on the occasion of the Czech Presidency of the EU Council (CZ PRES).

The exhibited photographs

The opening speech was given by Mayor Jan Boye who praised Czech photography and attractions of the Czech Republic. Ambassador Zdeněk Lyčka thanked the City Hall for its cooperation and then presented the logo, the motto and the priorities of the CZ PRES. He revealed the main cultural and promotional activities connected with the Czech Presidency in Denmark and informed in detail about the exhibition. It is a collection of the best Czech press photos awarded by an international jury in the annual contest of Czech Press Photo through the 15 years the contest has existed. The exhibition consists of 60 photos of several authors and its aim is to allow the public to become eyewitness to the events and phenomena of the past years.

The Nordic Office of the CzechTourism Agency, situated in Stockholm, in cooperation with the Czech Airlines Copenhagen Office prepared a visitors’ contest on the Czech Republic. The Winner, who will be drawn among the correct respondents, will receive a weekend stay in Prague for two persons.

The participants of the opening ceremony were offered a glass of Czech beer or wine. The exhibiton in Odense will be open until 18 Feburary upon which it will be shown in the library of the town of Ringsted.
