Screening of the Czech movie “Night Owls “

The tradition of showing Czech movies at the Embassy of the Czech Republic continued on 19 May 2009, when a contemporary movie “Night Owls” (2008) by Michaela Pavlátová was shown at the at the residence of the Embassy. The local Czech community, Czech and Danish students as well as a number of diplomats attended the event.

Michaela Pavlátová is an experienced Czech filmmaker. The movies Talks, Talks, Talks (1991) and Repete (1995) belong to her most successful feature films. Michaela Pavlátová is also a talented animator, film designer and has appeared in a few movies as an actress. The film Night Owls was awarded at the International film festival in Karlovy Vary in 2008 for the performances of Martha Issová (Best Actress in the Leading Role) and Jiří Mádl (Best Actor in the Leading Role). The story of the film, written by the debuting scriptwriter Irena Hejdová, takes place in the Prague streets, in the harsh environment of Karlín and Florenc.
