Czech reception at Odense International Film Festival OFF11

On the occasion of a special programme “A tribute to Czech Animation” at the Odense International Film Festival of short films, a Czech reception took place at the culture center Kulturmaskinen on 23 August 2011.

On the day, two film series on Czech animators Jiří Trnka and Jan Švankmajer were attended by large numbers of guests, who almost filled up the screening hall. The Danish film historian Ulrich Breuning introduced the programme on Jiří Trnka and after the second series on Jan Švankmajer launched the Czech reception together with the Czech Ambassador Zdeněk Lyčka. VIP guests, organizers and other guests had the opportunity to taste white and red wine from Haban Cellars in southern Moravia and Czech lager beer Pilsner Urquell at the reception.

Zdeněk Lyčka gave an interview to the local TV station, where he recapitulated the history of the Czech Embassy’s cooperation with the organizers of the Odense International Film Festival and pointed out the film related activities of the Embassy, especially the regular screenings of Czech movies at the Residence and the promotion of Czech animated, short, documentary and feature films via cooperation with the Danish Film Institute, Huset Cinema in Copenhagen, The National Film School of Denmark and other institutions.
