The Czech documentary "The Obscurantist and His Lineage" at CPH:DOX 2011

The International Festival of Documentary Movies CPH:DOX 2011 presented a new movie by director Karel Vachek.

The 9th International Festival of Documentary Movies CPH:DOX 2011 took place 3rd – 13th November 2011 in Copenhagen. This year the organizers chose a Czech movie The Obscurantist and His Lineage by director Karel Vachek for the main international film competition DOX:AWARD. In the history of the festival only one Czech movie, René by Helena Třeštíková (2008), has been chosen for the main competition.

The Obscurantist and His Lineage by the outstanding Czech director and teacher at FAMU, Karel Vachek, had premiere in October 2011 at the International Documentary Film Festival in Jihlava in the Czech Republic where it was awarded the prize Film New Europe Visegrad Prix 2011. In Copenhagen the movie was shown at the cinema Dagmar Teatret on 12 November 2011. The screening was followed by a discussion with the director.

Moreover, the festival guests had an opportunity to see the Czech student film Olda (2010) by the Slovak director Viera Čákanyová.
