Classic Race Aarhus 2014

On 16 – 18 May 2014 the 5th race of classic cars and Formula 1 took place in the Danish city of Aarhus. The event which was established on the initiative of the Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic Niels Brøchner, attracted 28.400 visitors this year. They could see 300 cars in eight categories and twenty races at one of the nicest tracks in northern Europe.

His Royal Highness Prince Joachim, Nicolai Wammen, the Danish Minister of Defence and former Mayor of Aarhus, Jacob Bundsgaard, the current Mayor of Aarhus and racers from seven countries took part in the official opening. Apart from driving his Lotus Cortina, Prince Joachim also competed in the Formula 1 race, next to the last Formula 1 world champion, British racer lord Gregory Thornton.

The visitors also had the opportunity to see historical cars of many brands – from Italian Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, British Austin-Healey, Aston Martin, Jaguar, to the classical models of Porsche, BMW, Lotus Cortina, Mini Cooper, Ford and others.

Niels Brøchner, Czech Honorary Consul for the area of Jutland and Fyn, is the president of the Classic Car Race Aarhus, which has become an annual, plentifully visited event followed by the media. Its proceeds are donated to projects aiming at safety for children on the roads in Eastern Jutland.
