Celebration of 97th anniversary of independent statehood

The Czech Embassy in Copenhagen held a reception on Wednesday 28 October 2015 on the occasion of the National Day „Day of the foundation of the independent Czechoslovak state“.
The representatives of the diplomatic corps in Copenhagen and prominent personalities from politics, business and culture in Denmark accepted the invitation from the Ambassador and his wife. In his speech, the Ambassador mentioned the activities of leading Danish investors to the Czech Republic and he thanked Orifarm, which has recently accounted for the most notable increase in the Czech export to Denmark and became a sponsor of this year's reception. He also pointed out the Czech company Sipral, which succeeded in tender to deliver the complex building façade for the project of the new incineration plant Amager Bakke and established its branch in Denmark.
Second part of the Ambassador's speech was dedicated to Czech foreign policy which stems from the tradition of the First Republic. The Czech Republic focuses on the best possible relations with its neighbors, prioritizes an active engagement in the NATO and the EU and advocates consensual decisions, based on the free will and dialogue between the member states. Finally, the Ambassador mentioned the immigration experts, as well as police, who are helping to alleviate the migration pressure along the southern EU external border, assistance to the Ukraine, the participation of Czech doctors in MEDEVAC project in Jordan, financial support to Zaatari refugee camp, and highlighted the important role of the Czech Embassy in Damascus.
A reception for the Czechs living in Denmark was held later that day, this year also with a presence of all the employees of company Sipral working on the sheathing for the project of the new waste burning plant Amager Bakke. In his speech, the Ambassador thanked them for an extraordinary representation of the Czech Republic abroad and thanked also the Czech School in Copenhagen and the compatriot association vKodani.cz.
Czech-Danish Duo Modus consisting of Ms. Marta Líbalová (violin) and Ms. Jytte von Rüden (accordion) performed at both receptions and apart of the Czech and Danish national anthem played songs by Antonín Dvořák.
Refreshments were prepared by Chef Radek Příhonský and his team from Grandhotel Pupp in Carlsbad.
