Opening of the Czech Honorary Consulate in Greenland

On 26 September 2016, the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic was officially open in Greenland's capital Nuuk, with the presence of 1st vice-premier of Greenland and  Finance Minister Ms. Randi Vestergaard Evaldsen.

Mr. Hans Kristian Olsen was appointed as the Czech Honorary Consul in an official ceremony, attended by the Czech Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark, Mr. Jiří Brodský. Hans Kristian Olsen was born in Sisimiut, holds a degree in geology from the University of Aarhus and MBA from the University of Aalborg. He currently works as the CEO in Greenlandic company Nunaoil.

Official opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Greenland

Among the main responsibilities of the Czech Honorary Consulate in Greenland will be first of all assistance to Czech tourists, but also trade and cultural agenda.

The Czech Ambassador to Denmark used this opportunity to open an exhibition of illustrations by Aron from Kangeq at the University of Greenland. Exhibition was opened in connection with the Czech translation of collection of Inuit legends Ímarasugssuaq, who ate his wives, which has recently been published by the Argo publishing house. Legends were translated by Zdeněk Lyčka from the Danish version, translated from the original by Kirsten Thisted Således skriver jeg, Aron.
