The competition is based in the city of Sisimiut since 1998 and there are more than 150 participants each year. The race is 160 kilometres long and is divided into three days and two nights, when the participants stay overnight in the mountains. Arctic Circle Race is considered to be the most difficult cross-country ski race in the world due to the high mountains in the area of Sisimiut and extreme weather conditions in Greenland.
