Czech film "Into the North" at the Jewish Culture Festival

On June 3, 2019, a documentary film Into the North was screened at the 9th Jewish Culture Festival in Copenhagen.

The film deals with the eventful fates of the Czech Jewish children who found a temporary refuge in Denmark during the Second World War. Screenplay to the film has been written by Czech journalist and historian Judita Matyášová. She had been dealing with this topic since 2009 when she published an advertisement in local Danish newspapers addressing the families who accepted and sheltered Czech children in the years 1939-1943. She received replies from several families after which she gradually began to unravel the stories of individual actors. The result of the research was an exhibition (2013) and a film by Natasha Dudinski in 2015.
