20th Anniversary of NATO Membership

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of NATO membership of the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary, the Czech Ambassador Radek Pech hosted a luncheon on behalf of the three countries' ambassadors. The guest of honour was Anders Fogh Rasmussen, former Secretary General of NATO (2009-2014) and prime minister of Denmark (2001-2009).

Ambassadors of the remaining NATO member countries and Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defence of Denmark also attended the lunch. The guests discussed the future of the NATO in the context of current international politics and European security challenges. Anders Fogh Rasmussen appreciated the importance of accepting new members into NATO including their contribution to security of NATO member states as well as the global security. According to Rasmussen, a key for European security is the maintenance of the transatlantic ties, principle response to current threats and keeping the Alliance's door open for additional new members.
