Inauguration of the Center for Visually Impaired Children in Damascus

On March 5, 2020, representatives of the Czech Embassy in Damascus, headed by Ambassador Eva Filipi, attended the inauguration of a renovated educational center for visually impaired children in Damascus.

Reconstruction of the center took place within the program of the non-profit organization ADRA "Rehabilitation and Stabilization for Syria II" with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in humanitarian aid to Syria and under the patronage of Syrian Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor personally attended by minister Kinda Al‑Shammat.

The actual modernization and repair of the center included construction and reconstruction work, which mainly adapted the premises of the center for the visually impaired children and improved the safety for them, new sanitary facilities were built and equipment for the classrooms where the lessons were held.

This center is crucial for the catchment area of ​​Damascus and urban suburbs and is currently used by about 200 visually impaired children.
