The evening was opened by the President of iCham David Pierce, who also expressed appreciation to Škoda for its valued support of the Chamber. The next speaker was Brand Director of Škoda Ireland John Donegan who presented the achievements of Škoda globally and in Ireland. After that a few dozen distinguished guests were addressed by two guest speakers - Czech Ambassador to Ireland Mrs Hana Mottlová and Minister of State for Financial Services, eGovernment and Public Procurement Mr Eoghan Murphy.

The remainder of the evening took a less formal note as guests, including Senator Gerry Horkan and Councillor Deirdre Donnelly, were invited to explore the brand new Kodiaq on show as well as the staples of the ŠKODA brand, the new Octavia and Superb, and to learn about the 120 year history of ŠKODA.

The new Kodiaq signifies ŠKODA’s first foray into the SUV market, the fastest growing segment in Ireland. The new model should help ŠKODA surpass its recent success in Ireland, with last year’s sales amounting to 9,500 units. For 2017, ŠKODA Ireland is setting its sights on increasing both market share and sales as well as breaking into the top 5 car brands in Ireland from its current 6^th position.
