The President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Radek Vondráček visited Ireland

From 20 to 22 January 2019, a delegation from the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic led by the Chairman Radek Vondráček, visited Ireland. The purpose of the visit was to attend the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the first meeting of the Dáil.During the visit, bilateral meetings took place with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Ceann Comhairle Sean O Feargháil as well as the Minister of State for European Affairs Helen McEntee. Interviews with Irish officials have shown the interest of the Irish party in developing interparliamentary relations.

From 20 to 22 January 2019, the Delegation of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic led by the Chairman Radek Vondráček visited Ireland. The delegation consisted of Jan Morávek, Head of the Office and Zuzana Kohoutová Balcarová, Chief of Protocol Department.

During the ceremony, which was broadcasted live by RTE, President Higgins and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar stressed in their speeches the importance of the 1st session of the Irish Parliament in the emergence of an independent, democratic state. The Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic  R. Vondráček met with Ceann Comhairle Sean Ó Feargháil, who highly praised his participation in the celebrations, welcoming the cooperation between the parliaments of both countries, especially the committees of the two Chambers of Parliaments, and expressing their interest in continuing this cooperation. In bilateral talks, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar as well as President M. Higgins appreciated the mutual interest in cooperation between the two countries.

The visit of the Delegation of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, led by the Chairman President (Speaker) Radek Vondráček, contributed to the further development of relations and confirmed the interest of both sides in the development of cooperation between the two parliaments.
