The shrine of the biblical prophet Nahum is a monument of extraordinary importance, representing the common roots of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It is applying for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and Czech assistance is making a significant contribution to its restoration.

The project "Restoration works on adjacent parts of the Shrine of the Prophet Nahum" in Alqosh town, northern part of the Nineveh province, Iraq is undoubtedly another important project implemented by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Erbil within the "Program to support Czech participation in the stabilization and reconstruction of Iraq in 2018-2021" of the Czech government. The project’s construction activities and restoration of the damaged part of the extensive temple complex contributed significantly to its rescue.

The project had been implemented in March and April 2020 as a follow-up to the rescue and restoration works supported by the US government under the patronage of the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq His Excellency Mr. Nechirvan Barzani. The Czech part of the activities was implemented with the Iraqi Institute for the Conservation of Antiquities and Heritage in Erbil through the expertise of the Czech company Gema Art International s.r.o.. "This is another Czech company that is gaining positive international references thanks to cooperation in saving a unique historical monument using the development and humanitarian instrument of tied financial donations.", said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Martin Tlapa.

From 2004 to 2006, Gema Art implemented the Czech government’s assistance in preservation of Iraq's cultural heritage within the framework of its post-war reconstruction. Since 2004, Gema Art implemented 23 projects in whole Iraq and Kurdistan Region. Using its expertise and gained experience, Gema Art cooperates on a number of projects with Iraqi and foreign institutions, including active cooperation with Iraqi and Kurdish experts in strengthening of their skills.
