Czech Centre screens the film Seclusion Near a Forest

The Czech Centre in Rotterdam will project the Czech classic comedy Seclusion Near a Forest (Na samotě u lesa) in its June Film Club.

It is a Czechoslovak movie directed by Jiří Menzel in 1976. Two main characters are Oldřich Lavička (Zdeněk Svěrák) and Věra Lavičková (Daniela Kolářová), a married couple from Prague. With their two children they leave to countryside to spend a vacation at the cottage.

 

The Lavičkas yearn to have their own house in the countryside. So they decide to make a deal with charismatic old Mr. Komárek (Josef Kemr) to rent part of his summerhouse and later to buy it from him completely. As the time passes Komárek seems reluctant to sell the house as they agreed.

 

Na samotě u lesa is the last film screening before summer break. Next Czech film club will be organized again in September.
