European Film Festival – Cesta ven (The Way Out)

Just like last year the Czech Centre will participate in the European Film Festival that takes place in various locations in the Netherlands from 17 to 20 September. This time Czech movie fans can look forward to the film Cesta ven (The Way Out) directed by Petr Václav. The film will be screened on Saturday 19 September at 19:30 in Filmhuis Lumen in Delft.
Trapped in anti-Roma prejudice and her own community’s entrenched behavior, Žaneta is determined to live ‘a normal life’ with her unemployed partner David, their daughter and Žaneta's teenage sister. Desperate to get a regular job, she battles welfare officers and prospective employers refusing to turn to crime.
Cesta ven (The Way Out) has won seven Czech Lion Awards (the most important Czech film awards) and it was the first Czech film in a long time that was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
