Artis Bohemiae Amicis Award is a prize given by the Ministry of Culture. It aims to acknowledge significant and long lasting activities of individuals who purposefully contributed or still contribute to the promotion of the good name of the Czech culture at home or abroad due to their own systematic artistic activities, an outstanding artistic performance, or by sponsoring, mediating and promoting of cultural heritage including folk art, as well as of contemporary fine art, literature, performing arts, history of art, criticism, contemporary cultural events, and cultural history in general.

 

This prize can be awarded to other foreigner as well as  to the citizens of the Czech Republic. Artis Bohemiae Amicis Medal may be awarded also to institutions and organisations in recognition of their meritorious achievements in systematic presentation and knowledge of tangible and intangible cultural heritage at home and abroad as well as presentation of works of contemporary music and literature including non-fiction and poetry, dramaturgy and scenography, film, photography, fine and applied art including design, arts and crafts, and history of art, last but not least for their contribution in systematic presentation of contemporary performing arts.

 

 

Mr Hans van Oostveen has been the board´s chairman in the Comenius Museum Foundation for ten years. Moreover, he has been the member of the Foundation since 2004.  As the member and later as a chairman of the board, Mr. van Oostveen was instrumental to maintain John Amos Comenius´s legacy and its development in Naarden. In addition, he contributed to overall development of bilateral cultural relations between the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.

 

Mr Bert Kisjes helped Czech artists during the communist regime and supported many cultural events related to the Czech culture. As a example of recent projects, it is possible to mention his involvement  in organization of Night of Literature and the symposium honouring Václav Havel´s 80^th birthday.  His activities find a wide audience and bring generations together.
