The general use of the Czech highways is charged.

Users of motor vehicles up to 3.5 tons must buy a highway vignette (motorbikes are free of charge). There are three types of vignettes:

• annual (valid from December of the previous year to the end of January of the following year, ie valid 1 month before and after the nominal period);
• monthly;
• 10-day.

Using vehicles with a permissible weight over 3.5 tons on highways and designated stretches of roads is subject to a toll.  Therefore, such vehicles must be registered with the Electronic toll system operator and equipped with an onboard unit.
