Czech Republic suspends the receipt of visa and residence permit applications

With regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of the Czech Republic has declared a state of emergency as of March 12th, 2020, for the period of 30 days. In compliance with this step, the Government of the Czech Republic has adopted Decision no. 198, dated 12th of March, 2020, on accepting crisis-management measures, within which all diplomatic missions of the Czech Republic will suspend receipt of visa applications, with the effect from March 14th, 2020.
 

As of March 14th, 2020, the following measures will be adopted:

  • - All foreigners arriving from risk areas are banned entry to the Czech Republic, with the exception of foreigners staying in the Czech territory on the basis of a temporary residence permit for a stay longer than 90 days, or a permanent residence permit.  

  • - The receipt of Schengen visa, long-term visa and residence permit applications (both long-term and permanent) is suspended (including the visa centers).

  • - The processing of undecided Schengen visa applications will be discontinued.

  • - The receipt of appeals in Schengen visa applications is suspended.

  • - The processing oflong-term visa and residence permit applications submitted at the diplomatic missions will be suspended.

 

The above stated may not apply in persons, whose stay is in the interest of the Czech Republic.

Foreigners who have been staying legally in the Czech Republic at the moment of declaration of state of emergency, may continue their stay in the Czech Republic until the emergency state is lifted.
