As of January 1st, 2021, every foreigner who is granted a long-term residence permit and every foreigner who is granted a permanent residence permit without the precondition of previous authorised stay in the Czech territory is obliged to attend an adaptation and integration course within one year from the collection of their residence permit.

The obligation is determined by Law no. 326/1999 Sb., on the stay of foreigners in the Czech territory. The obligation does not apply to foreign nationals under 15 and over 61 years of age, EU citizens or their family members, nor to holders of residence permit for the purpose of study, investment or employee/blue cards within the governmental programmes.

The aim of the course is to present the rights and obligations of foreigners connected with their stay in the Czech territory, the Czech fundamental values, culture, customs and daily life in the Czech Republic. The course takes four hours and costs 1500 CZK. It is presented in the Czech language, with translations to other languages such as English or Vietnamese.
