Requirement in visa applications for employment and study/training purposes

In accordance with the current Preventive Measure of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic determining the conditions for entry to the Czech territory, all applicants for a short-term or long-term visa or residence permit for the purpose of employment or study/training are obliged as of July 13th, 2020, to present a declaration of their employer/educational institution as per § 31 par. 3, letter b) of Law no. 326/1999 Coll., on  the stay of foreigners in the Czech territory.

The above includes the purposes of employment, seasonal works, training, study, other educational activities, scientific research, etc.

The form/content of the declaration of the employer/educational institution is further specified by the above stated Preventive Measure – see sample of Declaration form (DOCX, 136 KB).

  • - In case of Schengen visa application it is necessary to present the declaration upon submission of the application file.
  • - In case of long-term visa or residence permit, the declaration must be presented before the visa is stamped.

The employer/educational institution does not need to guarantee to cover the medical expenses nor the return of the foreigner to the home country in case the foreigner has a residence permit to stay in the Czech territory.

The declaration need not be presented in original – a scan of  the declaration along with the printout of the email from the sending employer/institution is sufficient.

The above stated condition came into effect from July 13th, 2020.
