Niklas Ingelius "RED SPOT"

In this year second exhibition the Embassy Gallery presents young Finnish artist Niklas Ingelius. The exhibition called "Red spot" was opened on Wednesday 15 March and will last until 21 April. Visitors are welcome after previous appointment.

Niklas Ingelius Interpretation of blue color. Amongst the young artists so-called conceptualism is attractive. I interpret this as a situation in which "everything is possible" the selected concept dictates the necessary boundaries of the work and directs the focus on content. The new exhibition of Niklas points, that as his method he has decided to restrict the color as well as the form to a “minimal concept”. He picked blue as his color and grid, waviness, three-dimensionality as his form. All the meanings depart from this composition, these elements. Therefore it would be desirable to get to know the history of blue color and the symbolic interpretation of it even a little. The interpretations of the color are very multi-directional and everyone can find the most suitable for them, that excites intellectually -or awakes different sensations. Because of this, I don’t want to present my own views, but will leave this adventure for the spectator. With form Niklas is clearly closer to 1960 minimalism than today’s social concepts. Turquoise-tone blue forms grid-patterns grating from dark to light as well as an iris (Iris, the Greek goddess of the rainbow) which refers to infinity. The paintings are both objects and windows that invite in. The simple three-dimensional objects lose their materiality due the their “blueness”. Expect the RED SPOT. The works generally have no “real” names, but the combinations of letters and numbers represents them. The works "addict" viewers intentionally to the infinity of the blue color.
