St. Nicholas visited children of Czech compatriots

(This article expired 08.12.2022 / 15:40.)

Also this year St. Nicholas (“Pikkuláš”) arrived with angels and a devil to see Czech children at the Embassy in Helsinki. The meeting took place 9 December in the evening. The Embassy provided the premises and contributed to the refreshments.

Pikkuláš (a Finnish-Czech compound word) is organized by compatriot organizations Finnish-Czech society and Bohemia as well as an informal association FinCzech. About 30 children with their parents took part in the event this year. Much like in the Czech Republic also here children sang a song or recited a poem and they got a small present as an award. As well as the children in the Czech Republic they, of course, were afraid of the devil. Singing of Christmas carols together in the Czech and Finnish languages was also a part of the event. Parents were satisfied with the possibility to meet so many other parents at the premises of the Embassy.
