V4 seminar on regional cooperation

On November 5, 2013 a seminar on regional cooperation of Visegrad Group countries (V4) was held in Helsinki. The seminar was organized under the V4 presidency of Hungary in cooperation with the Embassies of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Poland and the Slovak Republic.

The event took place in the premises of the Hungarian cultural institute and it drew attention of about 50 visitors, among them Finnish official representatives, academic personalities and diplomatic community. In a panel discussion of experts Mr. Štěpán Procházka, Director of the Project Development Department of the CzechInvest agency presented V4 region from the investment point of view putting stress on economic potential.

The aim of the seminar was to present the Visegrad Group to Finnish listeners as a dynamic and successful regional grouping with adequate political weight in the region as well as in EU, with significant economic and investment potential and also as a group which is historically a part of West-European civilization area. Panellists focused on the description of functioning, budgeting, basic tasks and goals of the Visegrad Fund. Finnish speakers concentrated to the presentation of the Nordic Cooperation which they considered to be an innovative model for future regional grouping in many respects.
