Writer Markéta Hejkalová on International Writer's Reunion in Lahti

Markéta Hejkalová will be attending the Lahti International Writer's Reunion held in June 14 - 16, 2015. This year’s theme is “Writing as a Balancing Act“.

Markéta Hejkalová is a Czech writer and translator. She studied Finnish and Russian language at the Faculty of Arts at the Charles University. She has translated books written by Finnish authors (Mika Waltari, Arto Paasilinna) into the Czech language. In 1991 she founded Autumn Book Fair in Havlíčkův Brod where she organizes the fair nowadays every year. During the years 1996 – 1999 she worked as a consul and cultural attaché at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Helsinki. Since 2006 she has been vice-chairman of Czech PEN Centre and since 2009 a member of the Board of PEN International.
