Czech performances in Finland (May - July 2017)

In the spring and summer months number of Czech artists - actors, singers, dancers - will come to perform in Finland. Below you will find information about events in Helsinki, Tampere, Kuopio, Kaustinen ...

From 16th to 21st May you may visit a Finnish-Czech-Norwegian theater performance "Prospero" Helsingin Kaupungin Teatteri. This performance is inspired by the Shakespeare's Storm and tries to convert theatrical classics into a piece accessible to a young audience.

International singer and violinist Iva Bittová will perform during the International Tampere Vocal Music Festival on Wednesday 7 June from 22 am at Old Customs House in Tampere. For more information, please visit the Tampere Vocal Music Festival website.

Few days later, the International Improv Festival will be held in Tampere. The Czech theater ensemble BAFNI will improvise on Friday, June 16th.


On Sunday, June 18th at 7pm within the Kuopio Dance Festival, viewers have the opportunity to watch the performance of the renowned Czech dance group VerTeDance.The dance company VerTeDance was founded in 2004. The company has to its credit a number of important rewards, among them The Dancer of the Year 2010, The Best Light Design Award (2012 and 2014) and The Theatre Journal Award (2012 and 2014). VerTeDance are the only Czech company to have gained the most prestigious Czech award in the field, The Dance Piece of The Year, as many as three times. In 2015 VerTeDance was awarded for show Correction by BE Audience Award 2015 and Mess Festival Award 2015 in BE festival in Birmingham and by prestigious Herald Angel Award 2015 in Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The amateur musical and theater group Lakomé Barky will perform in the first half of July at the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival and at Kajaanin Markkinakat.
