Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Paula Risikko visited Czechia

Ms Paula Risikko, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Finland met Mr Radek Vondráček, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, and Mr Jaroslav Kubera, the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic on 19 February 2019.

During the meeting with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic the topics of possible cooperation in the EU were discussed. Finland from July 2019 chairs the Council of the EU and the Czech Republic for the V4 group.

"The position of the EU's small and medium-sized countries in relation to its multi-annual budget, the experience of illegal migration and asylum policy, the EU's relations with its eastern neighbors - these are the issues that we have common with Finland, and we have discussed the possibility of joint negotiations between the Nordic- V4 in the EU at the  parliamentary level," said Radek Vondráček after the meeting.

The Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Finland, Ms Paula Risikko, also met the Vice-Presidents and members of the European Affairs Committee. to discuss the priorities of the forthcoming Finnish Presidency of the Council of the EU.

In the afternoon, Ms Risikko visited the Senate where she met the President of the Senate Mr Jaroslav Kubera.   

The working dinner was organized by the Chairperson of the group "Friends of the Nordic countries" of the Czech Parliamant because together with Ms  Risikko also two Finnish MPs from the group "Friends of the Czech and Slovak Republic" visited Prague
