CZECH IN showcases major innovative contributions to international glassmaking (utility glass, technical glass, glass jewellery) through-out the time. From tradition to most contemporary techniques, CZECH IN introduces glasswork as an innovative, original craft with a long tradition in the Czech Republic.

Organized by Czech Centres, in cooperation with The Czech Consulate General in Hong Kong and Museum of Glass and Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou under the curation of Petr Novy, CZECH IN presents the best of Czech glass through works from Lasvit, GREYA – Pavla Weberová, Moser, PAS JablonecGlassborAG PlusRautis Poniklá, Ladislav ŠevčíkBohemia CrystalKavalierglassSEVEROSKLOLHOTSKÝPreciosa OrnelaEstrela Es-PressPreciosa ComponentsRaltonBohemia MachineECOGLASS, Preciosa VINOLOKBROKISGLASSZuzana KrejčováJakub Petr - QUARTZ. Moser and Preciosa companies will be displaying additional design pieces.

The exhibition is complemented by a special presentation showcasing Lasvit’s award-winning project of glass objects entitled “Monsters.” Created by leading designers and artists, including Alessandro Mendini, the Campana Brothers, Yabu Pushelberg, and Daniel Libeskind, each glass sculpture captures a personal snapshot of fear and unease in glass, a material designed to be both fragile and eternal. This is the first time Lasvit presents the series in Asia.

symbiosis

Symbiosis 2.0, a group exhibition curated by Prague based duo of curators, Lenka and Richard Bakes, features works of Czech contemporary artists from five prestigious Prague galleries and one Hong Kong´s Gallery. The individual works all relate to the exhibition´s title “Symbiosis” and explore interspecies connections and cooperation. Individual artworks reflect on fundamental questions such as where one organism ends and another begins? What exactly does an autonomous individual mean in nature or in the universe? Organisms can never be understood in isolation, for they are a set of active agents that make up our environment and which are studied by the science of ecology.
