Heritage Live: EU-Pakistan Collaboration in Music

Musicians from eight European countries participated in a unique collaborative project with indigenous artists of Pakistan, producing a series of videos and performing together in Islamabad and Lahore. Czech songwriter and singer Amelie Siba found the artistic workshops with partners from Pakistan and EU extremely enriching and inspiring.

Pakistani Foundation for Arts, Culture and Education (FACE) supported by embassies and cultural institutes of EU member states associated in the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) Cluster in Pakistan organsied a music residency in Islamabad from 22nd to 29th May 2022. The project „Heritage Live - Music of Pakistan“ provided an opportunity to fourteen traditional Pakistani musicians and artists from eight EU countries including the Czech Republic to create music and perform together.

Seven music videos and tutorials, recorded during the workshops, will be disseminated on various digital platforms. The project aims at supporting vulnerable musicians, including women, Afghan refugees and youth from rural areas of Pakistan in reaching out to diverse communities to improve their socio-economic condition and develop inclusive and creative economies.

Participating artists performed for the public in Islamabad and Lahore. Czech singer Amelie Siba joined musicians from Afghanistan, Baluchistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Sindh, appreciating the chance to communicate through music and the possibility to collaborate with Pakistani partners in her future projects.
