Within the framework of the AFS intercultural exchange program, one Indonesian student will visit the Czech Republic for a year

With the participation of representatives of the Embassy of the Czech Republic, USA, Germany and Italy, a festive farewell was held in Jakarta on 8 August with selected high school students from different parts of Indonesia who will spend a year abroad, exploring the way of life, culture and language of their host country.

The exchange program for high school students is organized by the non-governmental non-profit organization AFS, in cooperation with the Indonesian Foundation for Intercultural Learning Bina Antarbudaya. This year, 140 Indonesian students také part in the program. During August, they are set to travel to their host families in eleven countries of the world. One them is a high school student from Surabaya in eastern Java whom AFS has found a temporary family in the Czech Republic.

The highlight of the gala evening was the dance-drama performance of the students. Its intent was to show how the national unity of Indonesia relies on the coexistence of many different cultures of this vast and varied island country.
