A deputy-minister Schneider launched a European Diplomatic programme

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic has been hosting a complex training seminar organised as a part of the European Diplomatic Programme on April 17-19, 2013. Jiří Schneider, 1st deputy minister and state secretary for European affairs welcomed fifty young diplomats who came to Prague to improve their skills in european negotiations.

The European Diplomatic programme was established in 1999 having as its aim the raising of common diplomatic awarness with begard to the specifically European dimension of diplomacy.  One of its essentials components of this year´s edition – a negotiation traning -  has been organised by  the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

A deputy-minister Schneider underlined in his opening remarks how important is to know the art of negotiating  both in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy. Furtermore he appreciated the role of the European Diplomatic programme in networking – creating personal contacts of diplomats with their partners in the EU countries. Mr. Schneider mentioned also that the Czech MFA has been hosting the negotiation training for the second time -  for the first time the programme took place in Prague in 2009 in which the Czech republic took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

A director of the Diplomatic Academy of the MFA, Mrs. Věra Jeřábková, mentioned  the changing role of diplomats in the prezent international environment and the role of the training in it.

During the three days´ training the young diplomats will learn what are the factors influencing the negotiations process and its methods, an effective lobbying or  a persuasive presentation of own positions.
